What to Do If Your Internet Goes Down

If your home internet connection goes down, some features of your Luxeia Smart Home will be temporarily unavailable. This article explains what still works and what to do while you wait for your connection to be restored.

What Still Works Without Internet

Your Luxeia smart hub uses a local network to communicate with your devices, which means many functions continue to work even without an active internet connection. You can still control devices manually using the Luxeia app while your phone is connected to your home Wi-Fi network. Scheduled automations that are stored on the hub will also continue to run as normal.

What Requires Internet

Remote access via the app (when you are away from home) requires an active internet connection. Voice assistant control through Amazon Alexa or Google Home also requires internet. Any cloud-based automations or third-party integrations will be paused until your connection is restored.

What to Do

First, check whether your broadband router is online by looking at its indicator lights. If it is offline, try rebooting it by unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in. Most routers restore their connection within a few minutes.

If your router comes back online but your Luxeia hub is still not connecting to the internet, try rebooting the hub as well. Go to Settings > Hub in the Luxeia app and tap "Reboot Hub", or unplug the hub, wait 15 seconds, and plug it back in.

Once your internet is restored, the hub will automatically reconnect and all remote features will resume. No action is required on your part.

Persistent Connectivity Issues

If your hub frequently loses its internet connection even when your broadband is working, it may be a Wi-Fi signal issue. Try moving the hub closer to your router, or contact our support team for advice on improving your network setup.
